The essential oil is extracted via steam distillation, which involves heating the plant material and collecting and condensing the steam, resulting in a concentrated liquid containing the volatile aromatic chemicals of the plant. The aroma of geranium oil is pleasant, flowery, and somewhat herbaceous.
