American Airlines allows cats to travel in the aircraft cabin as long as they remain in an approved pet carrier that fits under the seat. Up to three cats per passenger are permitted as long as the carriers take up no more than one passenger seat. The carriers must remain securely closed at all times to prevent cats from escaping.
