Responsibilities include The staff accountant is an integral member of the accounting finance management team and is responsible for providing accounting support in the areas of budgeting financial analysis and planning. The staff accountant will assist in ensuring that adequate control measures are developed implemented and enforced to provide optimum accuracy in the organization s financial operations. The Staff Accountant can expect to learn all aspects of the Accounting Department and interact with various Marriott divisions. This position reports to the Sr. Manager Finance and Accounting or Manager Financial Analysis. Expected Contributions Oversees the preparation and distribution of GSCC financial reports to brand management and senior management. Assists in the coordination and development of the annual operating and capital budgets for the Marriott GSCC Reservations organization. Conducts evaluations and financial analysis and prepares cost analysis related to various operations. Makes recommendations based upon analysis related to various operations. Audits accounts and accounting processes and ensures appropriate controls are in place. Prepares forecasts and projections of costs throughout the year based on current business conditions. Prepares and reviews monthly financial statements and account reconciliations for accuracy. Ensures fair and equitable allocation of all reservation center expenses to all product lines. Communicates with hotel and corporate management personnel to perform various analyses for them. Types of analysis include costs booking trends billing inquires and source trends. Prepare quarterly MIP66 balance sheet reconciliations and PBC s for external reporting. Coordinate deposits for the department and prepare the necessary journal entries. Review vendor invoices for accuracy prior to payment and process via the A P system. Prepare monthly adjusting journal entries. Assist in the annual audit process by preparing audit schedules and responding to related audit requests. Take ownership in resolving non-routine business requests with moderate complexity. Support and interact with Accounting Management leaders regarding specific requests and projects. Develop and review documentation of current accounting policies and procedures and initiate possible updates or improvements. Research and assist with special projects as requested. Each associate is expected to carry out all reasonable requests by management which the associate is capable of performing. Experience Minimum of 2-4 years of progressive job experience in accounting finance field. Experience with PeopleSoft general ledger system ( ) Experience in the hospitality lodging industry preferred but not required Strong accounting & systems skills including proficiency with Microsoft Excel Education Required BS or BA or equivalent years of related work experience.
