Drives a solid waste disposal truck picks up refuse at homes and places in proper compartment for recycling. Takes waste to compacting area or recycling center and deposits materials as directed. Must have Class B license and current medical card. Duties and responsibilities List the primary job duties and responsibilities Inspects trucks prior to beginning routes to ensure safe operating conditions. Drives trucks along established routes through residential streets. Drives to disposal sites to empty trucks that have been filled Operates equipment that compresses the collected refuse Communicates with dispatchers concerning delays unsafe sites accidents equipment breakdowns and other maintenance problems. Keeps informed of road and weather conditions to determine how routes will be affected. Working conditions If the job requires a person to work in special working conditions this should be stated in the job description Ability to withstand all types of adverse weather conditions. Ability to see details at close range within a few feet of the observer. Ability to judge the distance between you and an object. Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
