I have 30 years experience as a writer and licensed therapist and have coached high school students in writing (and college essays) for the past 6 years. I ve trained groups of students in county-wide college prep seminars and developed & taught a college essay training for the local Y-scholars. I m a certified writing teacher and served as Director of Admissions for a graduate psychology program. I love helping teens understand and convey the essence of who they are and to uniquely express a vision of their future. It s a special moment of self-definition as they transition out of childhood into greater independence and responsibility. I ve found this process not only can give greater acceptance rates to the colleges they choose but help them gain clarity and confidence about themselves. I have a teen too and understand the pressures on parents and adolescents first-hand - consciously engaged this pressure can help forge a stronger identity and a powerful writing voice they can rely on in college and beyond.
