If you are going to purchase a motor vehicle from an individual you are responsible for transferring the title in your name within 21 days to avoid penalties. The state of Texas will charge taxes on the purchase price or the presumptive value of the vehicle (whichever is the higher value). If you have been to the CTA and you were advised the vehicle value is higher than the price you paid we are able to appraise the vehicle so the sells tax can be lowered. If you have purchased a trailer from an individual and the gross weight of the trailer is less than 4000 lbs and the seller does not have the title we can help. We will need the vin number to the trailer to assist you. If there is not a vin number because the trailer is a homemade you will need to provide me with the plate number on the trailer so we can get the unit registered in your name. If you are going to purchase a vehicle that does not have a title and you are not sure what to do to get the plates and the sticker we can assist you. You will need the VIN number and the miles if the vehicle is less than 10 years old and we will be able to provide you with a quote on the title and registration transfer.
