Major areas of responsibility are to assist in preparing clients to effectively participate in their job community through providing vocational job service support. The Job Coach will serve each county or perhaps two counties as necessary by providing the following client services Accompany direct clients to potential places of employment Assist clients find suitable employment Evaluating and assessing clients while on job site Personal and Social Adjustment Training Match clients with jobs that best meet their qualifications Gather information about the client through interviews interest assessments and skills tests to help identify appropriate employers and work environments After clients retain employment the job coach will focus on job-specific training as defined by the employer Provide customized instruction and training to the client per the employer to entail o Importance of attendance behavior and interpersonal communication. o Provide on-the-job support to clients to help them adjust to the workplace Monitor the employee and offer support when needed Work closely with employers to monitor client progress and to address any concerns Qualifications and Education Requirements 2 years or more current work experience with individuals 16 years of age and above with special needs Current special education pedagogies and up-to-date technology skills Dependable work habits with reliable transportation required Available to work a minimum of 20 hours per week Clearly and effectively communicate interact with clients staff parents and GVRA (Georgia Vocational Rehabilitation Association) Staff as needed both orally and written Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others Maintain records and prepare reports in a timely manner Computer savvy operating various software applications and computer terminals Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines Learn and apply Blake s House of Independence Center and GVRA vision program rules regulations requirements and restrictions Learn the retail side of BHI Outlet i.e. inventory process customer care inventory software and storefront procedures Determine appropriate action within clearly defined guidelines High school diploma or GED or an associate s degree in a human services-related field (i.e. special education). Work with minimal supervision while providing client supervision In-house training required (number of hours TBD) Preferred Skills Bilingual in Spanish preferred but not required Additional Notes Complete a job coach certification program from a reputable organization or university via in person or online programs to fit into your current work schedule. Although becoming certified is optional it can enhance your knowledge of working with people with disabilities and help them in an employment setting.
