Position summary Assists the corporate sales department in increasing all aspects of business from established accounts and develops new sources of business from assigned market segments (i.e. Kamaaina Corporate Military Wholesale etc.). Analyzes and communicates anticipated market trends and reacts accordingly by developing strategies and action plans to benefit the property. Position Responsibilities Solicits and develops new customer contacts. Develops promotions and programs to address fluctuating demands. Negotiates contracts and business arrangements favorable to Astons objectives by creating and enhancing working relationships with suppliers in designated market segments. Uses understanding of marketing activities to include public relations advertising direct mail collateral development customer data-base development merchandising promotions pricing packaging point of sale solicitation. Utilizes central reservation global distribution and internet selling strategies. Does trade shows presentations seminars co-op activities with travel suppliers partners media relations giveaways client entertainment and personal sales calls. Listens identifies and analyzes customers needs in order to meet and exceed their expectations. Generates business letters sales reports inter-office memos email messages and sales and marketing plans. Resolves internal and external customer situations with a high level of patience tact and diplomacy defusing anger collecting information and making sound judgments in stressful situations. Maintains and strengthens relationships with clients. Acts as a liaison public relations contact between the hotel and the community. Adheres to and enforces standards police procedures rules and regulations. Performs other duties as assigned. Position requirements High school degree diploma or equivalent additional experience. Able to communicate in English. Basic math skills with a clear understanding of ratios percentages mark-ups and discounts. Able to operate IBM compatible hardware software applications to include Microsoft systems. One or two years sales marketing experience in hotel or travel industry. Able to use computer slide projector TV VCR overhear projector telephone facsimile copy machine and other communication devices. Organized and able to multi-task. Detail oriented with good follow through. Able to work independently with minimal supervision completing projects as assigned by the general manager. Knowledge of local group and Frequent Independent Traveler markets to Hawaii among others.
