Addie Mae Collins Community Head Start UPK teachers provide a warm nurturing safe and loving environment where self-concepts are enhanced independence encouraged and individuality respected. With this specific responsibilities include but are not limited to the following 1) Protecting the safety of all children in the center. 2) Directly supervising children at all times. 3) Using positive phrasing with children. 4) Communicating frequently with children throughout the day naming objects actions using who what when where. and why and open ended questions. 5) Exhibiting classroom management skills consistent with Addie Mae Collins Community Head Start UPK philosophy including reflecting children s feelings approaching children to speak with them directing comments toward children s behavior not at the children themselves etc. 6) Co-plays interacts with children during play activities both indoors and on the playground. 7) Treats each child with dignity and respect recognizing the cultural and socio-economic diversity of the population. 8) Collaborating with classroom team and administration to ensure an environment conducive to learning 9) Promptly arriving daily to set up morning routine as well as to greet children and parents. - BACHELOR S DEGREE in Early Childhood Education or related field a must teaching certifications a plus - Knowledge of Creative Curriculum and developmental appropriate practice for the specific age group preferred - The ability to work well in a team setting and work respectfully and cooperatively with a Teacher Assistant and a Classroom Aide - Willing to learn and grow professionally through professional development and guidance from administration
