OVERVIEW Responsible for counseling students in all aspects of career transition readiness job search skills job placement issues job retention and Job Corps student exit processes. Responsible for identifying exited students who are no longer employed or in school and ensure a reconnection with another placement school or a Remote Career Transition Specialist HOURS Mon-Fri 7 45am-4 30pm DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Develops and implements an Occupational Exploration Program (OEP) based on Job Corps needs that supports the CDSS Develops and implements an Orientation Residential Living program based on Job Corps needs that supports the CDSS. Researches and develops curriculum to assist the center teams with positive retention rates students ability to learn basic informational technology and job search skills Develops needs assessment of employment barriers and identifies potential transitional services that students may need for successful job placement and job retention Ensures students receive instruction addressing basic living skills Assists in the development of lesson plans for Orientation and OEP and Orientation Residential Living Ensures students receive information and assistance in the following areas Employability skills Information technology Academic and vocational training Support services Community resources Placement services Resume writing Supervises Coordinates and oversees Career Preparation activities and develops and implements new CPP programs and curriculum REQUIRED EDUCATION EXPERIENCE Minimum Bachelor s Degree or equivalent combination of one year experience in career preparation development education experience counseling sales marketing or related field. Preferred Career Preparation Specialist experience. General Information In order to perform the essential job functions of this position candidate must have regular attendance. Knowledge Required Experience in the use of computers word processing and e-mail. Effective communication skills both oral and written. Ability to effectively relate to student population. Skilled in counseling and motivating students toward vocational education and social development. High energy level. Familiarity with labor market trends and other related data. Familiarity with One Stop Career Centers. Must possess valid Maine driver s license. Ability to obtain and maintain a valid CPR FA certificate.
