I heard the snow is good in the Bird Creek valley so let s start the new year off right with a fun trip skiing in this beautiful area The 1st three to 4 miles are easy on snowmachine-packed trail. After that we drop down into the skiing only section that is a bit more challenging with lots of ups and downs and fun turns making it more of an intermediate level trip. Backcountry skis work best and skins can be helpful depending on snow conditions. This is an out and back trail so folks can turn around whenever they want. Some of us will TRY to make it back to the ford site which is 7mis in. We may have to deal with downed trees so there s no guarantee how far we will get. Bring appropriate gear and clothing for the weather conditions along with lunch snacks water and headlamp although we will try to return to the trailhead before dark. As usual no dogs are allowed....
