The three ultra-rare lamp units you see in the photos are the only remaining production units known to exist especially in this condition after very limited production in 1978. (See more info in sections 1 and 2 shown below). 99.9% mint condition and never installed in a vehicle 100% excellent test results on both filaments on all three units since new ( See more info below in the 3 section.) Recommended for indoor display indoor museum display or for one pair installation in an indoor-displayed museum car which accepts standard-fit 7 -round headlamps.Important info is also shown in the photos. Please check out all photos. 1) Besides the three headlamps shown and described in the photos of the units I have for sale there are still none known to exist in or outside the US especially in this condition. 2) Philips H4SB headlamps are known as the rarest 7 -round headlamps in the history of H4 production headlamp units These are also known as the rarest production headlamps of any type. These are also one of the rarest automotive-type collectible items to be found anywhere Bulb type Specially-designed Philips patented non-replaceable 12v 60 55W dual axial-filament clear quartz halogen H4 sealed inside all-glass lens reflector unit All three units have bulb shields.Beam pattern lens type Right-hand drive 100% pure European-code (E-code) on both low beam (55w) and high beam (60w). In European terms low beam is considered meeting beam and high beam is considered main beam .Reflective range ratings are as follows Low meeting beam 1 200 ft. (365m) High main beam 5 400 ft. (1 645m).Original known pre-production prototype(s) year and location 1976 Eindhoven Nederland (The Netherlands) All three headlamps shown have been manufactured exactly the same. In addition to the rare combination of a vacuum-sealed beam H4 bulb and 100% pure European-type lens pattern the following is another very unique feature found only on these headlights There are no codes SAE s or any other designations seen on the lenses except for the following only PHILIPS H4SB HALOGEN HSCR Standard European headlamp terminology H Halogen C Low (meeting) beam R High (main) beam. Terminology unique to the 12570 Philips 7 round lamps In H4SB SB sealed beam. In HSCR S sealed. These rare Philips H4 sealed beam European lens-equipped lamps were only available in the 7 -round standard-fit size. All filaments in all units were most recently tested on Oct. 28 2013. They all shined perfectly with 100% like new bulb intensity. This lamp type was so rare that it was the only one known as the 10 000 headlight (humorous expression) by the early 1980 s era (long after the very limited production ceased) by the very few US and Canada automotive parts retailers and wholesalers who knew these lamp units existed. This ad is from the only known actual European headlight collector of the 1980 s in the US. I specialized in 7 round units as first priority. The 12570 Philips obviously were the rarest and most valuable and are the last 7 round units I have in stock from my original main collection. Hand-printed on one top area on both boxes in black ink there is 29 approx. 3 4 in size. This was simply one of my own stock numbers for my original collection. The stock numbers I used were not an indication as to which order they were purchased or added to my collection. In fact the Philips H4SB units were the first European-lens-equipped headlamps I purchased which was in 1978. A basic description of my original 7 round European headlight collection of the 1980 s is as follows 37 different types of lens designs from slight-to-significant beam pattern variations 18 different brand names (manufacturers) all from 10 different countries. I reached a maximum total of 68 display units with mostly matched pairs and some single units. Most lamps were H4 s with a few Type A units and of course one set of Cibie Biodes (H1 H1 type) and a pair of S.E.V. Marchal Amplilux (H1 H3 type). 3) The headlamps shown in this ad have never been installed in a vehicle and they are in 99.9% mint (near new) condition except for the following One photo [ PHOTO] shows one re-soldering repair to two of the three terminals on the unit that is in the blue original Philips factory box. This repair was necessary because of the use of standard headlight connectors on my 12v headlight testing setup. In the mid-1980s the standard headlight connector was replaced by a hard-to-find top quality connector which significantly reduced the force needed to remove it from the headlight terminals after testing. Lens reflector unit vacuum seal and bulb performance were not affected in any way by this repair. There is one unusual factory-made very thin 0.8 in. (20mm)-long reflector surface scratch inside one of the lamp units. (See photo ) [ PHOTO] . All three lamps have been occasionally tested since new. Average bulb usage per year for testing purposes only 30 seconds on each filament. These headlamps are known as being much more rare than the even the rarest production Marchal headlamps for example which have been seen for sale on the internet for up to 2 100 each. Note A comparison of two Marchal headlamps of the same lens design and bulb type in which one of them has been seen for sale at more than 1 300 and up to 2 100 (for one unit) may be because of only a few differences in minor details such as slight number variations on the lens. The following is a guide showing basic value ranges seen for some rare vintage NOS near mint or excellent condition 7 -round Marchal lamps which are not as rare as the Philips H4SB. 1) Marchal Amplilux E-code H-1 H-3 including curved (convex) and flat lens various lens designs and yellow amber models 250 to 500 each 2) Marchal H4 E-code curved (convex) lens 350 to 600 each 3) Marchal H4 E-code flat lens (very rare) 400 to 850 each (may be occasionally seen for up to 1 000 each) 4) Other various vintage models including single filament (H-1) 7 round units and some non-halogen units such as with Type A bulbs 400 to 1 300 each Occasionally a rare 7 round vintage standard or vintage standard European-mounting screw and tab type fit unit may be seen for up to 2 100 for one unit although this is not very common. Each Philips lamp has a different number molded on the glass in the back (terminal) area (See photo ) [ PHOTO] . The first number after the letter D varies on each lamp however the second number molded below the first number does not vary. It is the same 023 on all three of these headlamps. The numbers are as follows D 12 023 D 18 023 and D 21 023. ______________ My last name will be mentioned to those who reply to this ad and show interest in purchasing these unique collector s items.
