Mercury absorbs about half its volume in gold and yields it back in the retort so you don t need much of it for this purpose. This is a small amount in a small tough plastic container with some water. If you open the mercury under water there will be effectively no evaporation of the mercury. Any evaporation should be contained (under water) as Mercury is TOXIC so keep it under water when using it to collect your gold fines. Mercury vapor can be inhaled and this is the usual way people have a toxic reaction. It can also be absorbed through the skin. Mercury has a boiling point of 673 degrees F. The practice of simply boiling off the mercury into the air to have the gold left not only expose s you to the toxic properties of Mercury vapor in very high concentration but also causes the vapor to go into the atmosphere (bad) and this is why Mercury has a do not use reputation. If your intent is to simply boil the mercury out please don t. We don t need any more Mercury in the fish etc. Don t buy from me if that is what you are going to do.
