Food Pantry Manager for Nonprofit Food Pantry Manager is responsible for food procurement storage handling and bill payments associated with two monthly food pantries in Silver City and one monthly mobile food pantry in Santa Clara (Mining District). Through volunteers and rigorous communication also has responsibility for all aspects of Alimento para los Ni os (school backpack) program during the school year. All above food distributions require volunteer and database management as well as monthly reporting to partner agencies and ED. Essential Duties and Responsibilities 1) Orders food monthly from RoadRunner Food Bank and Silver City Food Co-op in anticipation of food pantries and maintains pantry inventory. 2) Sends notices monthly to volunteers and municipalities as reminder of food pantry dates and times. 3) Coordinates volunteers so all functions of food distributions are well covered. 4) Organizes and executes monthly staples foods repacking event by procuring food and supplies and marshaling volunteers. 5) Assures everything that s needed for client registrations at food pantries is in order before the event. 6) Uses post-event registration data to pull together required reports for RoadRunner Food Bank and for internal use at The Commons. 7) Is present for food and produce deliveries that fall on non-food pantry dates and makes sure food is accounted for and put into appropriate storage. 8) Works with Silver Schools Food Services to procure food needed for School Backpack (Alimento) program. 9) Coordinates with elementary and middle school counselors to identify and qualify students to participate in Alimento program. 10) Secures and coordinates volunteers to pack weekend meal bags for Alimento program including school calendar-based packing schedule. 11) Coordinates deliveries of Alimento bags to respective participating schools.Competency To perform the job successfully the individual must be able to interpret task-related Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and perform each essential function satisfactorily.Qualifications 1) Candidate should have experience recruiting supporting and supervising volunteers or working with a non-profit organization. 2) Verbal and written communication skills. 3) Ability to plan and organize multiple work tasks. Many tasks recur monthly. A continuous improvement mindset assures enhanced outcomes. 4) Fluency in English and Spanish a huge plus.Education Associates degree (preferred but not required) with two or more years experience.Language Ability Must have ability to communicate effectively in English. Must have ability to give and receive information clearly.Reasoning Ability Must have ability to apply common sense in carrying out instructions and person-to-person interactions.Computer Skills Must have basic knowledge of MS Word MS Excel MS PowerPoint (or Google Suite equivalent) and be comfortable with menu-driven web-based database management software.Supervisory Responsibility Supervises Food Pantry and Alimento Volunteers.Certificates and Licenses Valid driver s license. Ability to pass certification for Civil Rights Training and Food Safety Training.Work Environment Physically mostly at The Commons. Once monthly at Bataan Park large building in Santa Clara. Biweekly during school year for a few hours at Silver Schools Food Services warehouse. All congenial environments working with good people.Physical Demands While ability to lift and carry boxes is a plus there is a legion of volunteers willing and able to do much of this work particularly because it can be scheduled and managed.Salary and Benefits Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
