Original watercolor painting on toned paper by Jean-Louis Forain. Signed by the artist lower right. The image is of a young dancer leaning in the corner of a room. A nice example from this important Impressionist era artist portraying one of his most popular themes dancers in Paris. Jean-Louis Forain was one of the most important artists in France during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. His friend Degas got him interested in ballet and its dancers and patrons as subjects for his art. Framed size 22 inches H x 18 inches W (55.9 cm x 45.7 cm). Framed in a wood frame with bronze highlights and matted in an beige acid-free matte. Completed with a UV-resistant acrylic cover. The paper has three horizontal wrinkles due to age.
