Summary of Position The role of the Senior Project Manager is to manage cross-functional project teams responsible for delivering defined project outputs on time within budget and with quality standards under the direction of the PMO Manager. This will require the Project Manager to follow established Cloud Peak Energy (CPE) project management methodologies to plan organize monitor and oversee one or more simultaneous projects to meet defined business requirements. The Project Manager will have the primary responsibility for defining planning tracking and managing enterprise projects and providing direction they require in order to successfully accomplish project objectives. The Project Manager will also ensure appropriate management customer and supplier involvement throughout the life of the project. Essential Duties Responsibilities Follow established CPE Project Management Methodology (PMM) to manage projects through the entire project management lifecycle. Create maintain and update all project management documentation in an accurate high quality and timely manner. Manage and communicate a clear vision of the project s objectives and motivate the project team to achieve them. Define project scope goals and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with senior management PMO Manager and key stakeholders. Effectively communicate with project sponsors and stakeholders on an ongoing basis to communicate project status and all project updates. Estimate the resources (costs human capital time etc.) and identify and manage all project stakeholders needed to achieve project goals. Coach to clarify assignments and deliverables mentor stakeholders in project management practices review quality of work and manage integration of team members work. Resolve issues related to client relations vendor relations project quality project risk and project safety. Where required negotiate with other department managers for the acquisition of required personnel from within the company to accomplish project goals especially when working with matrix projects Analyze the actual project performance against the plan and make adjustments consistent with plan objectives to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget at the agreed upon level of quality. Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path. Develop and deliver high quality and accurate status reports proposals requirements documentation Key Performance Indicators (KPI s) and presentations on a timely basis. Draft and submit project budget proposals. Recommend subsequent budget changes where necessary and manage all project change requests (PCR s) Qualifications Knowledge and Relevant Experience BS BA degree in the field of business administration computer science finance information systems or related field and 8-10 years experience with 3 years direct work experience in a project management capacity including all aspects of process development and execution or any combination of education and experience that provides the requisite knowledge to successfully perform the job Project Management Professional (PMP) certification and or other project management certifications preferred Proven experience in people management strategic planning risk management and project management software (i.e. MS Project 2013). Valid Driver s License Skills Strong customer service orientation. Demonstrated experience in managing issues scope and quality while bringing projects to successful completion within cost and time requirements. Experience working both independently and in a team-oriented collaborative environment is essential. Demonstrated ability to reorganize priorities in order to reach the goals and deliverables of assigned projects through analytical and problem-solving expertise. Adept at conducting research into project-related issues and products. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word Excel PowerPoint Project). Key competencies include critical thinking planning and organizing decision-making effective communication influencing and leading team work negotiation conflict management adaptability. Personal integrity and courage to escalate issues about a project to management when necessary and to advocate for responsible solutions to project problems. Ability to build relationships and work well across functional teams Must be able to manage competing demands accept constructive feedback while being extremely adaptable and flexible Demonstrated ability to organize priorities in order to reach the goals and deliverables of assigned projects through analytical and problem-solving expertise.
