My husband purchased this Silver Buckle recently at auction so I do not know the history or background. It is heavy and weighs 2.77 oz and it measures 2 1 4 x 3 1 2 inches and the opening on the back is for a 2 inch belt. From my research of the stamp on the back MEXICO ALPACA it is Silver and hand made. Also has inlay of genuine Abalone Shell in black resin. The pattern is of the Aztec Sun and the round area is raised giving 3-D appearance.
