Position Summary The Technician I is responsible for completion of assigned services calls including scheduled calls installs removals and preventive maintenance. This position will be responsible for troubleshooting radio and networking problems by phone or by traveling to customer locations. Job Functions Performs installations diagnostics and corrective procedures during radio and network installations. Performs installations and repair procedures with limited direct supervision Must be able to troubleshoot and repair all communication issues Communicates with Customers Response Center Representatives to provide status of service calls Maintains and secures assigned tools test equipment radio parts and networking equipment Responsible for maintaining stock in vehicle with sufficient inventory and other items required for service calls Responds timely to all services calls assigned by customer s NOC or Service Manager and escalates for prioritization of service calls if required. Attendance at scheduled staff meetings and conference calls Maintain updated history information including repairs inventory levels and service visits Conduct preventive maintenance (PM) and service calls by following defined procedures Follows defined escalation procedures in reporting problems or repair issues Accountable for closing out all service calls with correct repair information service level agreement (SLA) notes and any additional supporting documentation Returns defective equipment to site for repairs and follows appropriate procedures for noting issues with equipment Maintain scheduled maintenance on Company fleet vehicle and report any damage or accidents as outlined in the Company s Motor Vehicle Safety Policy Must comply with all Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) safety procedures and any additional state licensing regulations as applicable Other responsibilities as assigned Position Requirements Qualifications Medium work Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and or up to 20 pounds of force frequently and or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Must have and maintain an excellent driving record Must be available to work weekends and holidays Must be available to work mandatory and as needed overtime Must be able to pass random urinalysis testing Travel up to 75% of the time Ability to be on a 24hr on call rotation Climbing Ascending or descending ladders stairs scaffolding ramps poles and the like using feet and legs and or hands and arms. Body agility is emphasized. This factor is important if the amount and kind of climbing required exceeds that required for ordinary locomotion. Talking Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word those activities where detailed or important spoken instructions must be conveyed to other workers accurately loudly or quickly. Hearing Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction and having the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and making fine discriminations in sound. Repetitive motions Making substantial movements (motions) of the wrists hands and or fingers. The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures transcribing viewing a computer terminal extensive reading visual inspection involving small defects small parts and or operation of machines (including inspection) using measurement devices and or assembly or fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes. Skills Abilities Must be able to use the following program proficiently < > SSH client Web browser Microsoft Word Microsoft Excel Microsoft Windows Serial console program Ability to ascend and descend tower heights up to 400 feet Has basic understanding of TCP IP Has basic understanding of serial communications Cisco knowledge desired but not required Understating of basic switch routed network desired RF knowledge is preferred. Basic use of hand tools Knowledge of network cabling standards The ability to work at heights Ability to continuously learn Ability to communicate well with customers and all team members Will use a Windows computer to configure radio and networking equipment using the proficient programs.
