The Brooklyn Youth Services Department at the Chinese-American Planning Council is recruiting for interns for the Young Adult Internship Program. The Chinese-American Planning Council (CPC) is one of several social service agencies in New York City that issued a contract by New York City s Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) for an initiative called the Young Adult Internship Program (YAIP). YAIP seeks to help New York City residents who are disconnected and provide them with opportunities and skills to successfully make the transition into self-sufficient adulthood. YAIP is a 14 week paid internship opportunity for young people between the ages of 18-24 who are not currently employed and not attending school. The first 2-3 weeks of the internship involve work readiness training such as interviewing training resume building and teamwork-related activities. After the first 2-3 weeks of training interns will be placed in partner organizations to gain professional experience by working 20 hours a week. After the 14 week paid internship Educational Specialists will follow up with the interns for 9 months to help them transition into an educational program to get their TASC enroll into college and provide assistance in finding a job. In order to be eligible for YAIP the youth must not be employed attend school or have an associates or bachelor s degree.
