15th Century Thai Glazed Ceramic Vessel CULTURE REGION OF ORIGIN Buddhist Thai Kingdom of SukhothaiDATE Circa 15th Century CE DIMENSIONS Height 9.14 cm (3.6 in.) Width 8.89 cm (3.5 in.) DESCRIPTION Intact. A 15th Century Thai Green Glazed Ceramic Vessel from the Sukhothai kilns. The jar has a flat wire cut base in a heavy tan to gray fabric with many dark gritty inclusions and a thick metallic green glaze covering the surface from inside the mouth down to about the upper two-thirds of the body. A pair of horizontal handles rest at the top of the wide shoulder one handle in-filled with glaze. A short neck rises to the narrow slightly splayed open mouth. PROVENANCE Formerly with the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco.
