One of our well established banking client is looking for Settlements Operation Lead (major bank exp & transaction lifecycle knowledge) Location Toronto ON Duration 6.5 months contract with strong possibility of extension. Job Description Report to Group Manager People Manager with 4-7 direct reports (1st level processors) Manage the settlement process of all trades both cash and repo booked in various source systems settling in CDS Euroclear DTCC FED Bony Clearstream and other depositories Ensure that all depository position and cash breaks reported by the Operations Control group are addressed daily and correcting action is taken immediately Provide leadership and practical help to rectify issues Ensure team has detailed written procedures of all desk tasks and ensure all escalation policies are observed with concerns escalated to the manager daily Coach and mentor direct staff on continuous development as a people manager Provide management with analysis of key process drivers root causes and recommendations for process improvements Ensure proper coverage is established for all tasks given the various International holidays and vacation requirements Accountabilities to Customer Lead a team in delivering service or transaction processing consistent with Operations Technology and the firms business objectives Apply knowledge of Operations systems processes and regulations in resolving escalated client issues ensure communication with key stakeholders elsewhere in Operations & Technology Develop and maintain working relationships with internal partners for the purposes of delivering optimal customer service Accountabilities to Shareholder Adhere to operating standards and processes check and validate work of team members Monitor service productivity and efficiency levels within own function assess and propose process improvement opportunities Apply knowledge of Operations systems products and services and external requirements in achieving efficiency and productivity objectives for the group Ensure that employees are aware of the impact of their work on the activities of others outside of their function unit Recommend implement and monitor the achievement of process enhancements Escalate issues on a risk basis not able to be resolved due to complexity or other circumstances Ensure team operates in compliance with applicable internal and external requirementsAccountability to Team Coach and develop employees - ensure performance management activities are undertaken and completed for all employees Administer employees in compliance with all human resources policies procedures & guidelines of conduct Coordinate the sharing of information skills and knowledge among team members Promote a fair and equitable environment that supports a diverse workforce and encourages the team to achieve common goals and objectives Facilitate change through positive reinforcement of milestones and successes escalating key issues to more senior management as necessaryManagerial Responsibilities Establish an environment that promotes respect for the individual employee and adheres to the policies and guidelines of the Bank Direct train and develop staff to enable them to meet challenges department objectives and achieve full potential Manage the performance of the team ensuring staff have clear pre-set objectives and get regular feedback on their performance Ensure performance appraisals are conducted in line with Company policy and standards Provide leadership direction advice and guidance to the team thus maintaining high levels of integrity motivation and morale Initiate actions to further improve your own and the team skills and performance Continuously look for opportunities for professional development Skills Requirements Expert knowledge of the operating environment (e.g. processing environment applications software hardware) in own area Expert knowledge of business processes and procedures for own area Expert knowledge of transaction lifecycle for products and businesses supported in own area Capability to execute processing responsibilities involving one or more of the following Transactions or activities with a lack of market standards or practices Non-standard processing environment Multiple step transactions Several systems or applications A combination of manual and automated environments Multiple jurisdictions (currencies time zones) Discretion authority to make decisions or interpretations on process or transaction within defined boundaries Ability to execute on routine ad-hoc requests Previous people management experience considered an asset Previous coaching and team development experience considered an asset Excellent organizational time management interpersonal and analytical skills Proficiencies with MS Excel and Access an asset Exceptional verbal and written communication skills Please note that this is the most up to date version of job description available at this time During Client Interview you will receive additional information variance may apply When you have some time please register in our database (5 minute process) to be considered for future openings the link is available on our website at www.teamrecruiter.com in the Candidate section.
