Medical Receptionist

A Medical Receptionist offers the satisfaction of helping others as well as the opportunity to serve on a healthcare team. The position of Medical Receptionist requires versatility. Appointments must be carefully entered and patients must be greeted either on the telephone or on their arrival at the office. Patient charts are monitored and duplicate records are reported to the Data Revenue Cycle Analyst as required. Daily schedules are reviewed and monitored. The Medical Receptionist is required to contact HHS for verification of billing information (Medicaid Medicare private insurance EWM etc.) and the input of correct billing information in EPM manage dental referrals and monitor daily dental schedule complete transportation schedule and submit to transportation department daily send patient appointment reminders. Responsible for communicating with and assisting as needed with patients laboratories physicians representatives of pharmaceutical companies community partners and equipment manufacturers in a professional manner. Position will rotate between the two Homeless Clinic locations and four Public Housing Tower Clinic locations. Ability to multi-task and problem-solve is essential. Professional positive attitude required. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Greets incoming Homeless patient(s) requests documentation and verification of Homelessness Checks and registers patients in EPM (Electronic Practice Management) System. Schedules and enters new patient(s) and existing patients Prints patient questionnaires and requests and provides the patient with forms (Demographic PHQ Patient Questionnaire) to be completed Handles all incoming calls requests and needs from patient(s) community partners etc. Resolves issues pertaining to Homeless Contacts Health and Human Services (HHS) regarding eligibility and status of Medicaid Medicare and contacts Private Payers for insurance information. Enters the correct insurance information into EPM. Handles the processing scanning of medical forms and information pertaining to the patient s medical record Regularly updates demographic and insurance information Assists with referrals and monitors the scheduling of homeless patients with the dental clinic and behavioral health Handles all requests for medical records from outside agencies and faxes information upon receipt of signed requests Monitors the medical front desk for supplies and other issues Other duties as assigned by Director of Homeless and Public Housing Tower Health Clinics REQUIREMENTS Education Associates degree preferred high school diploma required Experience Preferably 3 years of full-time work related experience in a medical clinic hospital clinic or as a unit secretary in a hospital setting. Hours of Work Monday-Friday 32 or 40 hours per week 8 00 am to 5 00 pm No Saturdays or Sundays Travel Between two Homeless clinics and four Public Housing Tower sites. Reliable transportation is required mileage reimbursement is available. Exposure The exposure characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this position. For example while performing the essential functions of this job the employee (Frequency) is exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. Additionally the employee may (Frequency) be exposed to bloodborne and other hazardous chemicals. Finally the noise level in the work environment can (Frequency) be quite loud. In all cases personal protective equipment will be provided to the employee in combination with adequate ventilation and other engineering controls to minimize the risk of exposure or other hazardous occurrence.
