Position Overview Parent Facilitator (PF) works closely with the Supervisor to develop and conduct parenting classes. The ability to facilitate parenting discussion groups and internalize parenting and problem-solving skills to build healthy family relationships Be familiar with parenting programmers and workshops available in the community Have a thorough understanding about the roles and functions of family and parent services It is the mission of Diversified Community Services to provide leadership and services that strengthens and coordinates the Point Breeze and surrounding communities efforts on behalf of children youth and families especially those that are most vulnerable. We are a deeply-embedded neighborhood based nonprofit agency in Point Breeze a low-income predominantly minority South Philadelphia community. Diversified is a multi-purpose social service agency working with children adults and families and provides early childhood education as an integral function of its mission. Formally incorporated in 1968 Diversified has evolved from its roots in the University of Pennsylvania settlement house camps in the 1890 s into the largest social service agency in Point Breeze. We serve nearly 8 000 children youth adults and families emphasizing education and skill-building. Diversified chooses to maximize its impact by being geographically-based and focusing on the healthy development of children and youth from low-income and other vulnerable families to help them realize long-term economic and social well-being in the Point Breeze and surrounding communities. Requirements Two years experience facilitating groups. Must be flexible including working evening hours. Must have good verbal and written communication skills. The ability to facilitate parenting discussion groups and internalize parenting and problem-solving skills to build healthy family relationships Be familiar with parenting programmers and workshops available in the community Have a thorough understanding about the roles and functions of family and parent services Key Responsibilities Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance Facilitations of parent groups Assist in the selection formulation and dispersion of material Assist research designed to enhance program Participates in required parenting trainings Attend monthly meeting with Supervisor Complete weekly standardized form Assure signature pages are completed Assure parents completed take home assignments Assist with data entry Other Skills Computer Skills MC office included Word Excel PowerPoint Other related skills the ability to interact and relate well with families from a variety of difference lifestyles backgrounds and ethnicities an understanding of diverse parenting styles.
