Title Fuel ManagerDate Posted 03 19 2015Job Type Direct HireJob Location Williams Lake British Columbia Job Description Job Title Fuel Manager Summary Excel Personnel has been engaged to recruit for a Fuel Manager by our esteemed client to join their team in Williams Lake BC. The Fuel Supply Manager will manage all aspects of fuel supply to the Williams Lake Power Plant. The candidate will be responsible for the procurement contract administration cost reporting and quality of all biomass fuel coming into the Power Plant. This will include the prudent management of bio-mass fuels keeping abreast of industry developments in the region and developing and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers. The position will include the overseeing and management of all wood yard activities inside the Plant. Specific Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to All aspects of fuel management (from source identification to commercial arrangements transportation arrangements and fuel receipt). Actively manage existing fuel yard inventory with the support of eight Plant Engineers. Actively managing fuel inventory through trading buying and selling fuel options (within defined risk metrics). Developing and implementing a long term (up to 15 years) and day-to-day fuel acquisition plan to secure fuel supplies. Prudently managing storage of fuel and monitoring quality to optimize fuel value. Actively representing Atlantic Power in the forestry fiber community and ensuring Atlantic Power s interests are represented and protected. Administering fuel supply contracts and suppliers to ensure quality standards and supply amounts are met invoicing is correct and that the Plant has adequate fuel supplies without paying premium prices. Visit suppliers facilities to ensure quality and quantities can be met. Keep abreast of trends that might influence the quantity or cost of biomass received. Cultivate new suppliers. Look for opportunity suppliers to reduce fuel costs. Evaluate and advise on strategies structure changes or process improvements to reduce fuel costs. Developing and preparing monthly and annual reports for management. Requirements Bachelor s degree diploma in Forestry or Forest Management or applicable work experience. A minimum of 5 years experience with fuel procurement or fuel management. The candidate must also possess prior supervisory experience. Field experience in a maintenance environment would be an asset and experience in power generation would be desirable. Competent in the development of written procedures and instructions. Strong computer skills with working knowledge of MS Office. Collaborate with contractors community members and professionals. Able to make objective evaluations of safety problems and suggest abatement methods. Must possess and maintain a valid BC driver s license. Able to identify key issues creatively and strategically overcome challenges or obstacles Effective attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy Maintains a high level of integrity and accountability Sound analytical thinking planning prioritization and execution skills Maintains a well-defined sense of diplomacy including solid negotiation conflict resolution and people management skills Ability to successfully handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Physical Requirements Ability to hear and use close range radios Ability to lift push pull and carry items up to 50 lbs. Ability to reach with hands and arms above shoulder level and at shoulder level Ability to walk stand stoop kneel and bend for prolonged periods of time including across uneven ground such as the fuel pile Able to grip and manually manipulate often with repetitive motion items such as but not limited to hand tools and machine parts Strong field of vision including visual depth perception and ability to distinguish colors Ability to climb ladders up to 75 high and stairs to perform assigned tasks. Ability to raise or lower objects from one level to another regularly during the shift Comfortable working in confined spaces and at heights of over 300 Use of all PPE including respirators Ability to work in demanding physical and inclement weather conditions.
