TELESCOPE - Nautical - Early 1900 s Quartermaster 20X - Line Wr

Refurbished German Single Draw 20 Power Quartermaster s Telescope. Spyglasses of this type were designed and built to be used by the quartermaster detailed to steer the ship. Based on the design the materials used and the exceptional quality it was likely built in the early 1900 s by G. HECHEKMANN based in Hamburg. Closed it measures 20 while fully extended measures 29 (including the Sunshade and Draw Tube extended) and has a 2 aperture (object end). It appears that the entire scope is made of brass and the tapered main tube has been line wrapped sometime in the past. The draw tube is signed G. HECHEKMANN NACHF. HAMBURG . NACHF is the German abbreviation for Nachfolger which translates to Successor . Included is the original brass object lens cover but the soldered center plate is missing. The telescope does not show any material damage but does have a small bull s-eye and discolored spot near one edge of the object lens which does not seem to affect the clear view. This nautical artifact is a rare and functional piece of international maritime history. Additional Nautical Items Available - Please Call Cliff (at) 760-942-2025 For More Information.
