Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO)

Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) Position Summary The Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) will perform safety and occupational health management surveillance inspections and safety enforcement and training at the job site. The SSHO will work with all internal parties including the Project Manager Superintendent etc and external personnel to ensure that all safety requirements and regulations are complied with on the jobsite. Position Requirements Minimum five (5) years of satisfactory experience in preparing and enforcing a safety program on contracts of similar size. Have current First Aid and CPR certificates Completion of the 30-Hour OSHA Construction Safety Course in the last five years Must be certified as a Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) Multi years of experience with the application of the USACE EM 385-1-1. Essential Duties Conduct daily safety and health inspections and maintain a written log of any safety deficiencies. Conduct mishap investigations and complete require reports Maintain the OSHA Form 300 Maintain applicable safety reference material on the job site to include MSDS. Attend all required meetings and enforce the accepted Accident Prevention Plan and Activity Hazard Analyses. Ensure subcontract compliance with all posted safety and health requirements. Required Skills Exception organizational interpersonal managerial problem solving and communicative (both written and oral) skills Ability to exercise independent judgment Flexibility to coordinate with various trades and services Proficient in Microsoft Office programs including Word Excel Access and Outlook
