Click here for more information about Health Care AgencyTHE DEPARTMENT Adult Correctional Health Services (ACHS) Adult Correctional Health Services (ACHS) provides medical dental nursing infection control health education and pharmaceutical services at a community standard of care to all adult inmates in the County s five correctional facilities and contracts with hospitals for inpatient and specialty care. ACHS also provides mental health services including 24-hour emergency triage and crisis intervention suicide prevention acute psychiatric housing individual and group therapy substance abuse counseling psychotropic medication assessment and case management discharge planning to adult inmates in the County s five correctional facilities. Please to learn more about Correctional Health Services (CHS).THE POSITION Under the supervision of a Medical Doctor or Nurse Practitioner the Medical Assistant position will perform non-invasive routine technical support in correctional ambulatory care clinics. Duties include but are not limited to Work with medical providers and patients Utilize electronic health records system for scheduling transcribing orders File Medical applications Organize and maintain patient health records Prepare organize and review health records prior to medical exams Prepare inmate patients for examination by taking vital signs performing Snellen exams height weight measurements pregnancy screening and other data collection as needed Assist OB GYN provider with exams for routine pregnancy and women s health exams Assist with intake and screening of new jail bookings Transcribe medical orders and input data into electronic health record (EHR) system Clean and stock treatment areas Administer one-time doses of medication ordered by prescribers including oral and injectable medications perform venipuncture and collect and prepare other lab specimens as ordered Performs EKG s (electrocardiogram) PPD skin testing (tuberculosis skin test) blood glucose monitoring and routine treatments HOW TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION Please go to our website at www.ocgov.com jobs and submit your application online.
