SEXTANT and CASE - Nautical - Very Clean Mid-1900 s - Two Scopes

I am offering a 1967 German Sextant with a 1970 s Bakelite Case. Navigational devices of this type were used to determine a ship s position (latitude and longitude) from the observation of the heavenly bodies. This horizon micrometer Sextant was built in 1967 by the prestigious C. Plath Company based in Hamburg. The August 14 1967 Certificate of Examination is included and shows serial number 50154 which matches the Sextant. The ( 5< 125) degree bronze scale is stamped as follows Plath Trade Mark followed by C. PLATH HAMBURG 50154 Germany . The sextant and accessories are housed in a 1970 s Plath Navistar case which has been professionally modified to hold all the accessories securely. It also has the original functional lock with a replacement key. The accessories include a 6x30 Prismatic Sun Scope a 25x28 Star Scope and a Cleaning Brush. All the filters lenses and mirrors do not have any obvious damage but the scale reading light needs to have the socket repaired. I have included the bulb and what is left of the bulb s wire contact. Someone has spent a lot of time refurbishing the sextant and modifying the case which makes it a perfect example of German maritime craftsmanship. Therefore it is a very rare (possibly one of a kind) nautical artifact. Additional Nautical Items Available - Please Call Cliff (at) 760-942-2025 For More Information.
