Best of all we are committed to making sure our employees are well compensated for their hard work and contributions.Summary of Position Responsible for the safe and timely delivery of assigned loads to predetermined locations according to company policies procedures and appropriate governmental regulations. Operates a tractor trailer combination unit under the direction from operational staff with very limited supervision. Supervises and performs the loading and unloading of freight so as to minimize damage claims notes damaged goods prior to loading blocks braces secures and tarps loads as required and maintains security of the load in transit. Secures cargo on flat bed or dry van trailer including tightening chains straps and tarps using moderate physical exertion. Operates temperature controlled trailers as required. Ensures the timely processing of all customs documents bills of lading inspection reports driver logs and other related documentation. Deals directly with customers to meet their expectations and add value to the service. Ensures compliance with all governmental regulations including legal weights and dimensions. Ensures that the tractor-trailer combination unit meets safety and mechanical fitness standards. Must have ability to legally transport goods in and out of the USA (if applicable). Canadian Citizen or proof of landed immigrant status and required Visa s. FUNCTIONAL SKILL REQUIREMENTSABILITIES Possess Commercial Drivers License valid for class of vehicle driven Meets minimum medical standards for commercial drivers licensing Working knowledge of NSC and DOT Regulations WHMIS and Transportation of Dangerous goods(where required) and other pertinent Federal State and Provincial regulations Minimum two years verifiable tractor trailer experience Minimum competency level of grade 10 in oral and written expression in the English language Ability to work at heights of up to 5 feet. Bend and twist at regular intervals to secure loads. Climb ladders and steps at own pace. Function under repetitive movement to shift transmission and operate vehicle safely. Remain Drug and Alcohol free to perform in a Safety Sensitive functional position. Pay Scale 1)44-50 cents per mile 2)If driving in the U.S there is a premium of 5 cents a mile 3)Oral Waiting fee (gets paid 15.00-16.00hr) ie something to do with dispatch 4)Waiting of schedule or a layover rate is 150.00- 160.00 5)extra pick up 20.00 6)Fuel & speed incentive - 3 cent per mile (If drivers are going 95 - 105 they will get full 3 cents per mile) (If going 105-110 they will get 1% of the 3cents) Half the fleet are earning the 3 cent incentive. 7) Get medical benefits
