LANTERN - Nautical - Starboard Navagation - 12" Brass - Oil

I am offering a early 1900 s Starboard Navigation (Running) Lantern which is required on all vessels while underway at night. Based on the quality design and materials used it was most likely built in the early 1900 s by the National Marine Lamp Company based in New York. The lantern is made of brass measuring 12 tall x 8 wide x 7 deep and has two lens guards as well as an oil font assembly with wick. The 112 dioptric (ribbed) green lens has the typical chips but is very solid. It has turned to a bluish green caused by the manganese used as the glass clearing agent between 1860 and 1915. This nautical artifact is a prime example of U.S. maritime history. Additional Nautical Items Available - Please Call Cliff (at) 760-942-2025 For More Information.
