Professional Sawmill Blade Resharpening ServiceCustom Cut LumberResharpening Service - For about half the cost of a new blade we sharpen inspect clean and set your used and dull blades and the result is a blade that is SHARPER and CUTS FASTER than a brand-new blade Our sawyers PREFER a sharpened blade to a brand-new blade for this reason- they cut sharper and faster than the fresh brand new blades. The factory-made edge on brand-new blades is often punched-out rather than sharpened. When we sharpen the teeth the blade is generally 25 % shaper than before. If you already send your blades off to a resharpening service consider us We are willing to match prices and often will give you a BETTER EDGE for less locally We have the best sharpening equipment on the market comprised of 3 main tools we use to bring your blades up to a standard that generally surpasses the performance of new blades. These are an automated Cook s Cat Claw Sharpener a Dual-Tooth setter and a Blade Roller.-- With Experience and a Passion for Sharpening We Give Your Blades Special Treatment --We take the blades through a six-step process. As sawyers ourselves we place confidence in our sharpening abilities because we run our own sawmill on our own resharpened blades. We seek performance and your satisfaction and take sharpening your blades seriously. 1. We inspect each blade and take note of damage and cracks in order to only sharpen the good blades which have worthy cutting life left in them. Blades that are not sharpenable may be returned to you or we are able to dispose of them 2. Blades are cleaned with solvent to remove tree pitch and sawdust which reduces friction while cutting through the log. 3. We sharpen your bandmill blades using a Cook s Cat s Claw sharpener. This well-built machine is designed and manufactured by Cooks a company in Alabama state. Cook s has been granted some good understanding and designs to perfect the art of band saw sharpening. Much of the industry has become content of the status-quo-way things are with sharpening but Cooks has sought to take the science of efficient and quality thin-kerf bades to the next level. Some of their design patents and mindsets are truly surprising. We find that it indeed does as is claimed produce some of the best sharpening results in the industry. The heavy-built sharpener holds the blade solid and steadily without vibration. It uses the sweep grinding method of dry sharpening. The thin grinding stone follows the whole contour of the teeth and grinds the back face and gullet. It travel backwards as it takes off a consistent few-thousandths of an inch and makes every tooth the same height and profile. Some people use the inferior quality plunge grinder type of sharpener on their blades. It uses a thick stone that is shaped to fit the contour of the entire gullet between the teeth. This method has some real weaknessess in that the tip of each tooth is not touched. This can result in an uneven height of the teeth causing a blade that otherwise has sharp teeth to yet still cut inconsistently because not all the teeth are lined up on the same plane as they enter the log. Also when the stone is getting worn out its smaller size starts leaving metal unsharpened. Our Cook s Cat Claw sharpener is a powerful automated machine that does not bog down in the least as it sharpens and truly does a worthy job. We resharpen blades at a moderate speed below the sharpener s capacities. The smooth motion keeps the stone from forcing itself into the metal and causing blackening of overheated teeth. Overheated metal edges dull quicker. We are after a quality grind. We take note of the depth and how the contour is being followed. Consistent results by order and accuracy are what we find this machine puts out. 4. Teeth are set back into proper kerf width with our accurate Dual Tooth Setter. 5. Blades in need of a tune-up are sent through the roller to take out warp and twist which cause diving ( divers ) or rising blades. We check each blade in a multiple spots with a straightedge to discover the bands in need of being restored to a correct contour to put them even and straight. When the teeth hit the wood at high speeds the tension placed upon the front of the blade as each tooth cuts through the wood over the course of thousands of rotations can cause the front circumference to increase more than the circumference of the back of the blade causing a slightly uneven concave or convex band shape which resultingly causes the blade to want to tend to either rise or dive. Our blade roller applies pressure to the back of the blade band and evens out this issue. Other problems arise causing blades to warp and twist in wrong ways as when a sawmill is out of adjustment with worn out rollers or incorrect blade tension. We can not fix kinked blades and those with bent metal. For instance when a blade derails off the wheels it can be damaged beyond repair but we can save many blades that otherwise would go to the scrap pile. This service we offer is superior to many competitors in the sharpening service industry who do not inspect the band shape at all. We are pleased to be able to serve you in this way.6. Our last step is simply coating the blades with a coating of oil. This serves to repel water and keeps the blades sharper by inhibiting rust. Also rather than getting a dry blade that needs the mill s lubrication system to catch up to wetting the blade we give it a head start with our oiling process. We would love to talk with you and quote you prices for what we can do for your specific situation. Generally resharpening costs about half the price of a new blade. In the end though it is generally 25% sharper than new. When you contact us we will ask you questions to determine how many blades you need done and how often. We have a number of different cams we can change out on our sharpener making it possible to sharpen many different blade profiles. There are quite a number of different styles and sizes from different manufactures. Timber Wolf Wood-Mizer Simonds Lenox and MunkforsSagar and others are out there. We will ask you of the blade style and make blade thickness hook angle tooth spacing and length and width of the band saw blade. We will quote you an exact agreed-upon price when we understand what type of a project we are taking on to help you. We hope to be able to understand your specific needs and that we will be a joy to work with. For local customers we can provide you the service of making things easy on you by coming out to your place to pick up and drop off your blades. We can add you to our route. We also ship blades and work through a shipping service to serve mills throughout this nation. As sawmill owners ourselves we know the value of good blades. We test our own sharpening quality on a daily basis. Like you we cannot afford to have poor quality sharpening jobs that cause the blade to climb or dive in the log. We operate a number of sawmills and resaws at our own mill production facility and go through many blades. We cut nearly all types of unique varied cuts and wood from hardwood to softwood logs. We find ourselves cutting challenging very large burly oaks hard and gummy pecan logs and large finely-figured oddly shaped walnut logs. Some of these we turn into wide slabs for countertops and tables. We also cut beefy pine into thick and long beams and small logs into pallet skids and decking. Some wood we are able to cut through at extremely high speeds such as when we cut soft cedar and cypress logs. One of our saws in an oversized mill which can cut a very uncommon width of 48 inch slabs. A few other of our mills are set up more for production and goes through a high volume of large and small diameter logs. Along with the different variables created by varied cutting demands is the skill of knowing the optimum time to remove a blade that is dulling. If you take it off before it is seriously dull this will prevent problems and damage from developing. We will use the same knowledge and skills we apply to our Custom Cut Lumber operation to seek to get you the same good results we experience. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -Sean - - - - - - - - - cell 936-229-081three- Please forbear to call on the Lord s day (Sunday) - Feel free to leave a voice message text or email if you cannot reach me by calling
