Mr. Rice is a member of the Coast Salish Nation. He was raised as a commercial fisherman and logger.After injuries forced him to give up manual labor in the mid 1970s he began to seriously investigate the traditional arts of his native heritage and wood carving has been his occupation ever since.He finds satisfaction in carrying on the traditions of his ancestors and is a patient and dedicated carver.
