Skolnik Industries a leading manufacturer of a wide range of Steel Drums for commercial and government use is now hiring a Quality and Conformance Manager at our two steel manufacturing plants in Chicago. Products include Salvage Drums Wine Barrels Crevice-Free Stainless Steel Drums Mil-Spec Packaging UN Packaging HazMat Containers Overpack Drums and more. Our products are thicker heavier and stronger than industry standards require offer extreme durability and comply with domestic and international regulations.This position is located at 4900 S. Kilbourn Avenue in Chicago IL. The qualified candidate will supervise employees that are responsible for collecting reviewing categorizing filing maintaining distributing and removing documents necessary to define product configuration and control manufacturing processes that insure conformance to the requirements. Assist in the development of the quality program. Provide technical support regarding quality issues of incoming and outgoing products. Reduce customer complaints and returns.Job Duties -- Essential FunctionsSupervise Document Control Clerk and Record and M& TE Clerk. Review customer supplied documentation to verify that requirements can be met. Design install and evaluate processes that are required to meet customer requirements. Implement the appropriate quality assurance techniques in order to produce conforming product. Provide technical support regarding quality issues of incoming and outgoing products. Provide continuous quality service to customers. Certify that customer orders are fulfilled according to requirements. Analyzes inspections to prevent future non-conformances. Reduce the number of customer complaints by implementing quality improvement processes. Perform root cause analysis to resolve customer quality issues with a high sense of urgency. Reduce the amount of returned product. Manage non-conformances and associated corrective actions. Provide feedback to Management regarding customer Quality or Regulatory requirements that will need to be implemented changed. Assist with implementation and maintenance of quality management systems. Work with Purchasing Department and suppliers to improve relationships and product quality. Interact with Government Customer Inspectors as needed. Identify training needs with other departments and the Inspection and Testing Manger. Assist in training personnel. Continually seeks out opportunities to contribute to the business success through proactive involvement in department initiatives. Ability to read write speak English proficiently Education Experience RequiredBachelor s of Science Degree REQUIRED preferring Engineering or Quality 5 years of experience in quality assurance. ISO 9001 Implementation Environment Working Conditions Physical ConditionsPhysical conditions regularly required in this position are the ability to sit for long periods finger or manual dexterity repetitive finger motions hearing close distance vision (with correction) color discrimination and focusing. Position requires frequent speaking and occasional standing walking reaching stretching or twisting. Position may occasionally require hours worked beyond a standard 40 hour work week The performance of this position may occasionally require entry to the manufacturing areas and therefore occasional exposure to outdoor weather conditions extreme heat (non-weather) gases fumes or airborne particles work near moving mechanical parts and exposure to loud noise.
