Dawn s 5K Dash - Help Hill Fight Against Pancreatic Cancer
In August of 2015 Dawn Hill was living her life. She ran a 10k trail race hiked in the Sugarloaf Mountains and kayaked the Gunpowder River when all of the sudden she started having terrible stomach pains. She was then diagnosed with Stage four Pancreatic Cancer and is now at Johns Hopkins receiving treatment through a clinical trial. Pancreatic cancer is the fourth leading cause of cancer-related death in the United States. Pancreatic cancer has the highest mortality rate of all major cancers. 94% of pancreatic cancer patients will die within 5yrs of diagnosis only 7% will survive more than 5 years. [source] So What I run. partnered with Kelly s Dream to host a race in Dawn s behalf to raise funds to cover medical care and expenses that Dawn has incurred during her fight against Stage IV Pancreatic Cancer and to also bring awareness to Pancreatic Cancer.
