I am offering an original (not a reproduction) refurbished USN Quartermaster s Telescope. Spyglasses of this type were used by the quartermaster detailed to steer the ship. Built by the Los Angeles based Hayward Lumber Company it measures 31 in length has a 2 aperture (object end) and weighs almost 6 pounds. It is signed U.S. NAVY BU. SHIPS SPYGLASS Q.M. MARK II 16X SERIAL NO. 34493 (Circled N) 1943 HAYWARD LOS ANGELES The focus adjustment assembly is also stamped with Hayward s Logo. It has the original line wrapping on the main tube with sailor macram at both ends. This unit is mounted on a old heavy duty military oak brass Tripod which extends from 34 to 61 plus an added 8 high brass telescope mounting assembly. The tripod appears to be complete but I do not how to use the leg angle tension adjusters. The telescope does not show any material damage and has a clear view but has seen some sea duty.
