Senior Staff Nurse

THE POSITION The Family Health Clinic Senior Staff Nurse provides integral support to clinic operations within the Child Health Family Planning Immunization and Travel Immunization clinics. This position supports service delivery through administration of immunizations to Orange County residents.MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS POSITION Administers tests treatments medications vaccines and performs venipuncture as prescribed by clinicians Explains and obtains necessary consents for treatments and care Maintains patient charts and medical records Takes complete patient history including present illness past medical history and family and social history Teaches and counsels patients and families regarding specific diseases health conditions health maintenance and promotions Prepares California Immunization Registry (CAIR) reminder and recalls reports which allow providers to identify clients who are in need of vaccines that are missed and are overdue Follows-up with clients on vaccines that are due Backs-up Senior Public Health Nurse to conduct and monitor inventory of all clinic supplies and vaccines to ensure that essential supplies vaccines are adequately stocked at all times Maintains accurate records and ensures that vaccines inventories are identified logged in labeled and stored separately by procurement sources which are VFC 317 and private source Assists clinicians with care coordination and case management and other duties as assigned Assists in providing nursing support during disease outbreaks DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS The ideal candidate will have at least one (1) year of experience providing care and services to the uninsured and under-insured population. He she will also possess the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced clinic while paying close attention to details. Bilingual skills especially Spanish and Vietnamese are highly desirable for this position. In addition the successful candidate will have demonstrated knowledge skills and abilities in the following areas Knowledge of Child Health Disability and Prevention (CHDP) Program and or Family Planning Access Care and Treatment (Family PACT) Program Ability to deliver quality client-centered care and services and advocate for clients Demonstrates knowledge of community resources to refer clients to specialty care and other services Demonstrates effective time management skills Demonstrates excellent and effective interpersonal skills teamwork and the ability to work collaboratively with clients and staff Ability to function independently and in accordance with established protocols MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Please for the minimum qualifications information for Senior Staff Nurse and details of this classification.
