Mosquito Control Technician

Get paid to spend the SUMMER outdoors Do you LOVE the earth not mosquitoes Want to work for a company passionate about community and sustainability If so we are looking for you Most seasonal work will be done outdoors either on or near water in environments that include heavy vegetation uneven terrain and various weather conditions. Different types of equipment may be used including trucks trailors boats ATVs (all-terrain vehicles) bikes and backpack sprayers. Clarke is seeking independent self-motivated detail-orientated safety focused and environmentally conscious individuals with a passion for the outdoors to join us for a rewarding seasonal job opportunity. No prior experience is required. Paid training is included Pay 10 - 11 PER HOUR WITH OVERTIME WEEKENDS and or NIGHTS may be required based on business need Required Experience Backpack Technicians Backpack Technicians are responsible for utilizing a backpack sprayer for the application of a biological larvicide to sites found to be breeding in an effort to control the population of mosquitoes. The work will be done outdoors in an environment that may include heavy vegetation uneven terrain and varying weather conditions. Bike Crew Technicians Bike Crew Technicians are responsible for the application of a biological larvicide to community catch basins while riding a bicycle throughout all assigned treatment routes in effort to control the larval population of mosquitoes. The work will be done outdoors in an environment that may include uneven terrain and varying weather conditions. Comfort Pack Technicians Comfort Pack Technicians are responsible for the application of barrier treatments to the perimeter of properties including but not limited to private homeowners subdivisions and or industrial accounts using a backpack sprayer and or ATV (All-Terrain Vehicle) with an attached sprayer to reduce the population of adult mosquitoes. The work will be done outdoors in an environment that may include heavy vegetation uneven terrain and varying weather conditions. Field Inspectors ( Use of personal vehicle is required. A mileage reimbursement of .47 will be provided ) Field Inspectors are responsible for traveling to water sites within territories to sample the water and determine the extent of mosquito larval and pupal development. If larvae are found the Field Inspector will treat the site with a biological larvicide or recommend treatments to be completed by other supporting crews. The work will be done outdoors in an environment that may include heavy vegetation uneven terrain and varying weather conditions. Light Trap Runners ( Use of personal vehicle is required. A mileage reimbursement of .47 will be provided ) Light Trap Runners are responsible for gathering and sorting adult mosquitoes collected in light traps within assigned territories. Collections will be used to define mosquito annoyance periods and determine necessary treatments. Successful Candidate Must Be 18 years of age or older Possess a high school degree or equivalent with high school level math skills Communicate effectively in English in both written and verbal forms Have a valid Driver s License with an excellent driving record Be able to sit and drive a vehicle for extended periods of time as well as walk extensively Other Requirements Must be able to work through the end of our 2016 season (September October) Required to pass the Illinois Department of Agriculture General Standards Exam (training provided) Must be available to work Monday- Friday Capable of using hand held technical devices including but not limited to smartphones GPS and system applications Candidate must be comfortable performing assigned duties in the field from a vehicle or ATV while navigating through various residential communities urban environments and traffic patterns where environmental conditions are affected by weather Candidate must also be comfortable performing assigned duties outdoors while walking through various and challenging terrain including but not limited to water heavy vegetation and uneven land throughout residential communities urban environments and forested areas where environmental conditions are affected by weather We offer a team atmosphere where each individual can and does make a difference.
