Serial 23763The Riggs Brothers Company was a retail establishment that was located at 310 Market Street in the city of Philadelphia Pennsylvania. This company was formed in 1818 by William H. C. Riggs. They were engaged in selling navigating instruments clocks watches jewelry silverware etc. This business closed its doors in 1931.Chelsea clock company manufacturer of this piece sold these mariner clocks to a few fine jewelers starting in 1905 under the retailers name. Chelsea themselves didn t start selling the mariner clock under their name until 1911.This EXTREMELY RARE mariner clock would look great in a high dollar vessel. It tells a story just by looking at it.This Ship s Bell Clock is a true time piece in very good condition. It comes with the original key.It has all original parts the mahogany and bronze base is in great shape no splits or cracks not refinished. Has original 5 hing type bezel glass front cover. The hands are in ex. condition.Measurements 14 tall........10.5 wide..........5 deep...........5.5 dial. Clock weighs 15.2 pounds not including professional packaging. All the brass parts are very good condition. It had been oiled per Chelsea s time frames.This clock works exactly as it did when it was new.This clock was in our family since new. My great grandfather got it as a high school graduation present. It was kept in a curio cabinet until 1946 then on a faux fireplace mantel till 1963. It was then passed down to my father who then put it in another display case. I have been researching this clock for the last 3 years. Following eBay and other fine auction houses around the world. After seeing what these bring at auction in way worse shape I thought to list it here first. Try to find another 1905 Riggs Bros Mariner clock.
