I have an 8 year old male Blue and Gold Macaw in need of a home. Zack is my Macaw. He was a good bird but started having trouble with him after we started raising a grandchild. He is great with the grandbaby. However he isn t talking as much now. No longer will give you a kiss He still talks some and will wave Hi. His real good feature is he is not as destructive as Macaws can be. But like Macaws he can be nippy and LOUD. Zack s issues are my fault from the lack of attention he has gotten the past few months. But with the grandchild and other petsI have not the time to give him. My fault as I said not his. There will be a Adoption Rehoming Fee of 1000 firm. Given the bird and the cage that he comes with. He will come with a care package. He doesn t seem crazy about women. But has done well with me I am male. I am not going to give you a sales pitch. He is a Macaw. They are noisy. He likes to have attention all the time. In his mind he is a 7 year old child and thus acts like it. I feel he can be brought back around with the right person most likely a male to work with him. But you will need patients and some time. I suggest if you never worked with large parrots and thinking about it. Go to YouTube and the internet and learn a bit about them before you think about getting one. On You tube look for Chris Brittain he I feel has some of the best content about macaws. While we differ in opinion on cages. Cages are good safety rooms for your bird when you are not around or a bed time. One thing to remember about Macaws. When they do something wrong you can not treat them like a puppy or dog. It is a whole different ball game. He has a very nice strong cage. It is about a 1000.00 cage new. Not one of these new thin barred cages. Very thick bars. Thick enough that a Macaw having the strongest beaks in the bird family can not bend them. 2 water dish s and a toy and perch s. If interested I would suggest that you have the time to come over and met him a few times to see how he takes to you before actually adopting him. In a way to ensure the two of you click well together. I have the name a number of a vet that works with birds. He was DNA tested to be a male. I do not have his paper work for the test anymore. However I will be more than happy to retest him if the sex is a big deal to you and you feel you need to know for sure. It takes less than a week to get it done. and I will be more than happy to do it. The big issue here is a good home to pick up and correct where I failed him.
