I am offering an original (not a reproduction) USN Quartermaster s Telescope with the original case. Spyglasses of this type were used by the quartermaster detailed to steer the ship. It was built in 1942 by the Brooklyn based Kollmorgen Optical Corporation. The scope measures 31 in length has a 2 aperture (object end) and weighs almost 6 pounds. It is signed U.S. NAVY BU. SHIPS QM. 16-POWER MK.I NO.22816 1942 . The main tube has the original leatherette wrapping which is in excellent condition. This spyglass comes housed in the original solid oak case with brass hardware and the maker s tag which reads KOLLMOGEN OPTICAL CORP. QM. 16-POWER SPYGLASS U.S.N. BU. SHIPS SERIAL NO. 22816 . Both the telescope and case show little if any wear which indicates they were stored for many years. The scope focuses just fine but there is a very fine dust like coating over an interior lens which needs some attention.
