Mental Health Technician

Position SummaryNinety percent of time is direct supported person care interacting with the supported person either individually or in a group setting. The rest of the time will consist of documentation and running errands.Essential Duties ResponsibilitiesTo perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Interact routinely with supported persons observe behaviors and communicate significant observations to treatment team. Document information regarding supported person care and behavior as required in policy and procedure. Attend to physical needs of supported persons such as assistance with personal hygiene tasks such as bathing toileting and caring for incontinence if necessary along with feeding and mobility. Supervise supported persons in special care areas as assigned. Utilize Crisis Prevention Intervention when exposed to volatile supported persons to maintain personal safety while ensuring safety for the supported person and other individuals on the unit. Participate in supported person treatment planning and implementation under the direction of clinical staff and other professional staff involved in supported person care. Participate in maintenance of a clean orderly and safe environment report needs for repairs and maintenance to appropriate staff. Assist in admissions and discharges of supported persons as assigned. Obtain supported person s vital signs height and weight as assigned and document in supported person record. Assist nursing staff in responding to emergency situations. Work under the direction of IBRS Home Manager to ensure all shift duties are completed and address training needs. Conduct and assist with selected activity groups as assigned and document according to policy and procedures. Attend and participate in training in-services and staff meetings. Must be excused from mandatory in-services and meetings by the Director of 24-Hour Services. Assist with assessments as assigned. Monitor and document nutritional intake. Participate in implementation of residential therapeutic programming. Assist in planning and leading therapeutic groups. Maintain confidentiality in accordance with established Support Solutions policy procedures and standards of care. Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications RequirementsMust be at least 18 years of age High School diploma GED. Must have a valid Driver License. Knowledge and skills in English usage interpersonal relationships basic behavior management. Basic knowledge of human behavior or general mental health concepts independent living skills (personal grooming basic nutrition and general health needs). Certificates Licenses RegistrationsMust maintain valid Medication Certification throughout tenure. Must maintain valid CPR First Aid Certification throughout tenure. Must maintain valid CPI or PCM training throughout tenure.
