Additionally a candidate would need to have the ability to think and react to events effectively and swiftly.POSITION DESCRIPTION CERTIFIED MEDICAL ASSISTANTSALARY Starting 15.00 per hour negotiated based on experienceCLASSIFICATION Professional Full-time. POSITION OBJECTIVES The Certified Medical Assistant is responsible for the intake of the patient into the clinic and entry of health care information into the electronic health records system as well as collecting co-pays and appropriate payments for service. Works closely with physician to provide friendly flexible service to patients and their families. Assists the physician in preparing patients for examination vital sign readings and current medications. Answers the phone makes appointments and manages paperwork pertinent to the success of the clinic. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES This position will require the CMA to work at the front desk and or in the clinical area. When working at the front desk the CMA will be required to answer the telephones schedule appointments check in and out patients update patient demographics and insurance in the EHR collect co-pays and assist with submitting claims. Prepares and maintains complete and accurate charts case files records and other documents using an electronic health records system and checks for completeness and accuracy. Assists the physician in preparing patients for screening and diagnostic tests including blood draws cultures and other procedures appropriate for patient s condition. Attends participates in and contributes to in-services education and staff training sessions to maintain and increase skills and to teach others. Actively is involved in the community and surrounding community events working with the office manager and physician in preparing educational material for promoting and educating patients families and communities about health care issues. SUPERVISORY CONTROLS Work is performed under the direct supervision of the physician in the clinic. This position requires patience integrity and willingness to work with patients and staff in order to provide a friendly patient-centered environment. KNOWLEDGE SKILLS. ABILITIES Knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations as a certified medical assistant and performs duties within their scope of practice as applicable within specific licensure. Knowledge of standard medical record-keeping and HIPAA requirements. Knowledge of community resources for medical care mental health care and social services Ability to effectively communicate with patients from various social cultural and economic and educational backgrounds. Ability to work cooperatively with other medical care providers. Ability to recognize and take immediate action in emergency and immediate need medical cases within their scope of practice and licensure. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely orally and in writing. Ability to maintain strict patient confidentiality. QUALIFICATIONS EXPERIENCE EDUCATION Minimum Qualifications Must possess a diploma from an accredited Medical Assistant program and or be a Certified Medical Assistant.Basic Life Support certification REQUIRED. Must be fluent in English and Spanish. Must submit to and clear a Criminal Background check. Must submit to and clear an Alcohol Drug Screen. Preferred Qualifications Two years experience working in a clinic setting is recommended. Computer literacy and typing proficiency minimum 60 words-per-minute required. Experience with Excel Word and PowerPoint required. Some experience with an Electronic Health Records system is required.
