Original etching aquatint and drypoint printed in black-brown ink on wove paper. Final state of six states originally published in 1896. Signed and titled in the plate lower edge of the image. Original etching pulled in 1896 and included in the September 1896 edition of La Gazette des Beaux-Arts (The Gazette of Fine Arts). Titled Flore Artificielle (Artificial Flower) this work evokes the famous belle epoque era of Paris at the end of the 19th century. In the image a woman is seated before a mirror applying her makeup before going out. Legrand was an observer of Parisian society and often captured figures in casual moments such as this. Framed in an antiqued gold frame and finished in brown and off-white double matting. Covered with UV-resistant acrylic cover. Framed size is 21-1 2 inches H x 17-5 8 inches W (54.6 cm x 44.8 cm).
