Potraits Imaginaire Color Lithograph after Pablo Picasso - Price

This is an original color lithograph on white wove paper after Pablo Picasso. From the portfolio Portraits Imaginaire (Imaginary Portraits). In 1969 Picasso received a shipment of painting supplies at his studio. The packing materials includes sheets of brown cardboard. Picasso painted a series of imaginary portraits in brightly colored gouache on the sheets of cardboard. Reknown lithographer Marcel Salinas later collaborated with Picasso to create lithograph plates from those gouches paintings. The lithograph even reproduces the texture of the cardboard in various shades of brown ink. (Since Salinas created the lithograph plates this is technically an after Picasso.) The portfolio was published in 1973 in a numbered edition. The pencil numbering is from the publisher. There is an American edition and a French edition each limited to 250 impressions. The American edition contains the letter A before the numbering. (The French edition include the letter F after the numbering.) Numbered in Pencil A 28 of 250 (total size for both editions was 500). Framed size 33-3 4 inches H x 27-1 2 inches W (85.7 cm x 69.8 cm). In excellent good condition with some fading to the base coat of the magenta. Framed in a gold frame with a distressed finish (designed to make this new frame look older). Matted in white acid-free matte and covered with a UV-resistant acrylic cover.
