1880 s*JAPANESE TSUIKI GINBARI VASE*SIGNED*3 DIMENSIONAL EFFECTS

EXQUISITE JAPANESE SIX SIDED TSUIKI GINBARI VASE 1880 s SIGNED 3 DIMENSIONAL EFFECTS RIVER FLOWS THROUGH OUT FLOWERS LEAVES GRASSESThis vase is a little treasure. However less than perfect it is an exquisite piece with amazing detail and craftsmanship. It depicts a winding stream that starts at the back of the vase on the bottom surrounded by light green grasses. It proceeds to wind throughout the superbly executed variety of flowers leaves and grasses. The vase is 6 sided. It measures 4 high 1 at the base tapering out to approximately 2 1 2 at the widest point. The opening is 5 8 wide. I had the vase professionally appraised. This vase is a rare Ginbari vased called Japanese Tsuiki Ginbari. It means as well as having transluscent enamels on an embossed silver sheet there are three dimensional effects created with carved and etched areas under the enamel and over on the top motifs of cloisonn leaves and flowers. Beautiful. There are very few of these on the antique market. They were produced by master cloisonn craftsmen during the period of 1880 -- 1900. Delicate as ginbari is some damage is usually present such as spider s cracks and loss of enamel. This vase has some of each. It is signed on the bottom. There are three similar Japanese cloisonn marks or signatures. From what the appraisers were able to decipher it appears to belong to Yamanaka and Company of Kyoto in business from 1893 to 1940. But that s not definitive. I have LOTS of pictures if you would like me to email you more. Ideally one would see this vase in person. Please remember I m not a professional collector and will do my best to honestly identify the imperfections below. Most of them appear to be on the back. . Loss of enamel appears to be in one tiny area among the large bouquet of flowers on the front. To my eye I can t detect that it is missing except with photos from the digital camera. Only by feeling the vase can I feel it missing. . The second one (loss of enamel) is an obvious small white chip surrounded by light discoloration on the back upper portions of the vase. . Spider crack At the top of the vase over the delicate reeds. It appears as a whitish mark with a spider vein of a circle another away around it. I count 4 brownish gray discolorations of varying sizes. . One small spot approximately less than 1 8 wide and long at the back at the base. . The largest discoloration in the middle of the back of the vase tear drop shaped approximately long at the widest point. . A strip long x wide among the base of the flowers at the back. . An 1 8 dot of discoloration to left of the main bouquet. PLEASE FEEL FREE TO EMAIL WITH ANY QUESTIONS OR REQUESTS FOR MORE PICTURES THESE WERE ALL TAKEN USING NATURAL LIGHTING MOSTLY OUTDOORS (A FEW INDOORS). THERE MAY BE THE OCCASSIONAL GLARE MARK FROM THE SUN INCORPORATED IN THE MOTIF I will happily ship internationally.
