PORTHOLE - Nautical - Authentic Mid-1900 s Cast Brass 3 Dog -

Refurbished three dog Cast Brass Porthole with Storm Cover. Based on the quality materials used and machine work (not metric) it was most likely built in the U.S. during the mid-1900 s. The main body measures 9 x 4 with a 2 threaded protrusion (collar) and has three swivel dog assemblies attached with 3 x threaded shafts and original tie-down nuts. The 7 hinged door with a 6 x clear glass insert and the storm cover utilize a common hinge. The fact that this porthole has a storm cover indicates that it was built around the WWII era because the U.S. Navy and Merchant ships needed to cover interior lighted areas and provide additional protection when under hostile attacks. Please note that this small porthole weighs 13 pounds which is quite heavy for its size. The original rubber seals are still in place and the overall condition is exceptional. This nautical artifact a great example of the superior U.S. craftsmanship during this this period. Additional Nautical Items Available - Please Call Cliff (at) 760-942-2025 For More Information.
