Foothill Technology High School is looking for tutors for the AVID program. Tutors facilitate student study groups called tutorials that take place during the AVID class. Students identify a subject area they need help in and they are put into tutorial groups by subject (including math science english or history). Tutors assist students during study groups by asking guiding questions and keeping everyone on task. While this is a paid position it is also an amazing opportunity to witness motivated students working collaboratively. The AVID students really benefit from having a tutor working with them and often the tutors take on the roll of a mentor as well. Students range from 9th to 12th grade. Foothill Tech is located across the street from Ventura College so this would be a perfect job for a college student who is interested in becoming an educator. College graduates are also welcome. Positive attitude enthusiasm and ability to connect with teenagers is important for this position. Approximate hours per week 3 Schedule Wednesdays and Fridays 12 20-2pm Requirements Must be college student or college graduate willing to attend 1 hour training session able to obtain TB Certificate and Certificate of Clearance background check.
