Valentine is currently being fostered in Houston and is available for out-of-state adoption to an amazing family. The adoption fee is 500USD which covers transport and Valentine s full vetting. There is an additional 110 Canadian due to customs at the time of pickup. With her red brindle fur and a heart-shaped nose we just had to name this puppy Valentine Valentine is an approximately 6-7 month old staffie. She currently weighs about 33lbs and we expect her to reach about 40lbs or so when she is fully grown. She s a stocky little thing though with her head only coming up to about an average person s knee. She is crate-trained housebroken up-to-date on her shots and will be spayed before she leaves her foster home.We found Valentine at a county shelter. She had been found wandering on her own with a collar on but she had no microchip and no one came forward to claim her. She s such a sweet little dog that we just had to take her into the program to help her find a new family. She had clearly been in a home before because she was already partly housebroken and was definitely no stranger to couches Valentine is an exuberant affectionate puppy who is looking for a family of her own. She is a very playful puppy who would love to have a family that will play and just run around with her. She likes a game similar to fetch where you throw the ball and she chases it and then tries to get you to chase her. She also LOVES chasing the laser pointer and one day she will catch that thing Though she likes to play her favorite thing is actually to cuddle on the couch with her people. Because she prefers to be with her family she would do best in a home where she is not left alone for long periods of time. She is crate-trained though we have noticed a bit of some separation anxiety when first leaving. We have found that giving her something to do whether a treat or a chew toy of some sort helps to alleviate her anxiety and makes crate time enjoyable for her. Now when she sees her peanut butter kong she runs right to her crate on her own She also sleeps soundly in her crate at the foot of her foster parents bed all night.Valentine has begun learning her basic commands and currently knows sit down stay and high-five. She learns quickly especially when there are tasty treats to motivate her. She is housebroken and knows to go to the backdoor when she needs to go out.Valentine enjoys playing with other dogs and has excellent dog-manners meaning she knows how to approach other dogs respectfully and plays very well with them. Her human-manners on the other hand need just a little polishing. She tends to play with people like she does with other dogs which means she gets a little mouthy when she gets really excited. It s just a gentle nip and would never break the skin but Valentine needs a family that can be patient and continue to teach her that her teeth cannot go on people s hands even when she is just playing. She also tends to jump on people when she s excited though her foster family has made a lot of progress with this.We think Valentine would do best in a home with older children both because she can get mouthy when playing and because she s so short and stocky that she could easily knock a small child over while runnning by. She would enjoy the attention from older children though as she loves to play and snuggle and be loved on. She has no food aggression or resource-guarding behaviors of any kind making her a good fit for families with older children.Valentine is available for adoption beginning on January 29th after she heals from her spay surgery. She is in Houston but is available for out of state adoption.
