Rainn - Male Thoroughbred

-----Rainn Past----- 17 year old thoroughbred gelding was seized by the local Sheriff s department and transported to the Circle P Sanctuary a non-profit horse rescue specializing in abuse and neglect cases in Ohio on June5th 2013. Rainn has a tattoo on the inside of his upper lip which typically signifies he was used for racing. However when we tracked the number he had no official starts on record. He was extremely emaciated and given a body condition score of 1.5 by The Ohio State University s equine veterinary team (9 being extremely obese and 1 being completely emaciated). He was thoroughly covered in a skin fungus and had lost most of his hair. On October 9th 2013 after four months of nutritional rehabilitation Rainn was healthy once more and moved over to our Equine Center to begin work to condition his now full figured body. -----Rainn Present-----He gets to roam free in green pastures with many horsey siblings and live his life stress free and at ease. Rainn can be somewhat anxious on the ground while waiting. He lunges well and is broke to ride English or Western at the walk and trot. He is still building muscle so hasn t been cantered under saddle but should be able to more in the future. He is a little nervous in new situations under saddle but only looks for his horse buddy Wilson not to be a mean horse to the rider. He may try to scoot over to find him quick by a gate so an intermediate rider may work better for him. He is pretty responsive to rein and leg cues too. Through the gentle hands of many volunteers and friends of the Circle P Sanctuary this once abused and forgotten buddy has learned to love and trust again. He is currently being ridden in the indoor arena twice a week by a volunteer and still has more go than whoa but is coming a long nicely. It is amazing how these creatures can endure so much and still forgive and offer us unconditional love. -----Rainn Future-----Rainn tends to fall to the bottom of our main herds hierarchy and would do well within a smaller herd of 1-3 other horses. Since we are still building his muscle mass up he would do well with intermediate level riders with basic training and riding skills to get him started. He has plenty of potential given his responsiveness and gentle demeanor and would a great addition to any loving home.... More Info
