Rio was adopted as a baby in April of 2016. We received an email from his adopter that she wanted to return him (now at 6 months old) because he is destroying her carpet. A 6 month old puppy will chew and it s frustrating to us because we disclose all these things to potential adopters. They will chew test your patience destroy things etc. and need guidance training and exercise. We always state if you are not ready for the challenge don t adopt a puppy Clearly someone didn t listen and here he is again without a home. Despite the reasons our contract requires the animal come back to us and she did abide by her contract which we appreciate. Rio is a happy little guy. He loves everyone and all the dogs. He s playful social and happy and is going to make one lucky adoptive family very happy (FYI... since being returned to our rescue he s not destroyed anything but the dogs are kept busy throughout the day and get lots of exercise which is probably why he has no desire to be destructive. Boredom and pent up energy is the number one reason dogs are destructive... that goes for adult dogs too.) IMPORTANT NOTES All of our adoptable dogs are small and they are never to be left outside alone ever We only rehome our dogs to adopters that plan to have them as inside dogs and part of the family We do allow adopters with doggie doors provided there is SECURE fencing. There is no exception to this rule NO SMALL CHILDREN As with almost all the dogs at NR2R young children or a very active household is not recommended. Many of our dogs come to us BECAUSE of small children thus we do not rehome our dogs to homes with babies or young children. Even if the children are older it would depend on the child AND the parent or parents. We do not guarantee that any of our adoptable dogs are housetrained. While most should be easily trained keep in mind that they live in a rescue where they have access to the outdoors all day and are inside at night. Even if they were surrendered to us as housetrained it doesn t mean they will automatically be housetrained in your home. Housetraining them should be easy in the right home with time patience and consistency. Only adopters with a responsible dog ownership history and excellent vet reference need apply. If you bring this pet into your heart and home you will receive in return many years of love companionship and loyalty. That s our guarantee.
